PLAYA DEL CARMEN.- La Asociación de Hoteles de la Riviera Maya instaló su Comité Interno de Protección Civil para actualizar los protocolos de seguridad que garanticen la protección de los turistas, colaboradores e instalaciones en vísperas del inicio de la temporada de huracanes en el Atlántico.
Como cada año, el organismo turístico convocó a sus más de 120 hoteles asociados a una reunión con el meteorólogo del H. Ayuntamiento de Solidaridad, Luis Antonio Morales Ocaña para analizar los pronósticos y preparativos para el enfrentar con éxito los meses con mayor riesgo de presentarse estos fenómenos climatológicos, que abarcan del 1 de junio al 30 de noviembre próximo.
La agrupación hotelera reafirmó su compromiso de actuar en forma coordinada con las autoridades municipales y estatales para cuidar y proteger a los huéspedes, personal e instalaciones ante la inminente amenaza de un fenómeno meteorológico en las costas de Quintana Roo.
De acuerdo con la Comisión Nacional del Agua (Conagua), y de diversas universidades de Estados Unidos, para este año en la zona del Atlántico se estima la presencia de alrededor de 23 ciclones tropicales, de los cuáles alrededor de 12 serán tormentas tropicales, 6 huracanes categoría 1 o 2 y 5 huracanes categoría 3,4 o 5, siendo Quintana Roo uno de los 6 estados con fronteras acuáticas susceptibles a recibir alguno de estos sistemas ciclónicos.
