TULUM.- A pocos días del arranque de la temporada alta de Semana Santa, Tulum sigue sin barreras antisargazo instaladas en altamar. Aunque la Secretaría de Marina (Semar) comenzó a movilizar equipo desde el pasado viernes 28 de marzo, el proceso de colocación no ha iniciado por la falta de herramientas y materiales clave para el armado.

Las primeras unidades arribaron con parte del equipo necesario, pero todo sigue en pausa mientras la Marina da prioridad a otras zonas costeras de Quintana Roo, dejando a Tulum en espera. En este municipio se prevé instalar 1.5 kilómetros de barrera, desde la playa Mangle hasta Santa Fe.

Mientras tanto, el alga no da tregua. Según cifras oficiales de la Zona Federal Marítimo Terrestre (Zofemat), en el primer trimestre del año se recolectaron 443 toneladas de sargazo solo en Tulum. El incremento en el recale ha sobrepasado la capacidad de los trabajadores que, diariamente, intentan mantener limpias las playas con labores manuales.

La lentitud en la instalación ha generado malestar entre prestadores de servicios turísticos, quienes acusan una constante tardanza en el despliegue de las barreras. “Cada año es lo mismo, llegan tarde o se quedan almacenadas en la arena durante semanas”, reclamó un empresario hotelero de la zona.
