CIUDAD DE MÉXICO.— La sentencia dictada en Florida contra el exsecretario de Seguridad Pública, Genaro García Luna, y su esposa, Cristina Pereyra, los obliga a pagar una suma que triplica el monto originalmente reclamado por el Gobierno de México, así lo informó la Unidad de Inteligencia Financiera (UIF).
En un comunicado, la UIF precisó que este 22 de mayo de 2025, la Corte de Circuito del Undécimo Circuito Judicial dictó la resolución tras más de tres años de litigio iniciado por el Estado mexicano en septiembre de 2021, cuando se acusó a la pareja de encabezar una red de corrupción y lavado de dinero mediante decenas de contratos públicos.
“La sentencia es consecuente con siete resoluciones de culpabilidad emitidas y ejecutadas previamente en contra de García Luna, su esposa y sus cinco empresas, como resultado de su omisión de concurrir al juicio”, señaló la UIF.
García Luna fue condenado a cubrir 748.8 millones de dólares, mientras que su esposa, Cristina Pereyra, deberá pagar 1 mil 740 millones de dólares, según lo estipulado por la Corte.
Desde 2023, la UIF había hecho pública la estructura de lo que denominó “red de corrupción” tejida por el exfuncionario.
La dependencia, encabezada por Pablo Gómez, reveló una lista de contratos firmados entre entidades del gobierno mexicano y empresas vinculadas a García Luna, quien estuvo al frente de la Secretaría de Seguridad Pública durante la administración de Felipe Calderón Hinojosa.
“Durante el tiempo en que García Luna ejerció su cargo y posteriormente a ello, tejió una red de corrupción y lavado de dinero para beneficio personal y de sus socios cercanos”, afirmó la UIF.
Bajo su tutela, añadió, un conglomerado empresarial familiar que operaba en distintos países, logró adjudicarse 30 contratos con instancias de seguridad pública mexicanas, mediante los cuales se extrajeron recursos públicos por un total de 745.9 millones de dólares.
La denuncia civil interpuesta el 21 de septiembre de 2021 en Florida tuvo como propósito la recuperación de los activos adquiridos con dichos fondos. Según la UIF, el objetivo era resarcir el daño causado al erario nacional, identificando bienes y recursos ubicados en Estados Unidos.
Primeros activos recuperados
Como resultado de una de las resoluciones de culpabilidad, la UIF informó la ejecución de la sentencia contra Delta Integrator LLC, empresa propiedad de García Luna y su esposa.
De esta acción legal se logró la recuperación de 1.9 millones de dólares en activos líquidos, además de la transferencia de un bien inmueble valuado en 555.8 mil dólares.
Asimismo, el vencimiento de una hipoteca emitida a favor de un tercero por la misma empresa permitió al Estado mexicano recuperar otros 275 mil dólares.
“Los recursos líquidos recuperados fueron ingresados de inmediato a la Tesorería de la Federación, mientras que el bien inmueble está bajo administración del Gobierno de México para su venta”, detalló la UIF.
En cuanto a las otras empresas asociadas con García Luna, que son Oggi Caffe LLC, GL& Associates Consulting LLC y GLAC Security, aún no han sido localizados más bienes.
No obstante, la UIF sostuvo que continúa con las investigaciones para dar con estos activos, incluso si se encuentran ocultos “bajo la propiedad simulada de terceros que operen como testaferros”.
La UIF señaló que los procesos penales abiertos en México siguen en curso y que se espera que las investigaciones abarquen también casos de peculado y contrataciones indebidas ejecutadas a lo largo de más de dos décadas mediante esta red de corrupción.
