Acapulco.- A plena luz del día y minutos después de haber transmitido en vivo una denuncia ciudadana, el creador de contenido digital Ronald Paz Pedro, conocido como Ronald NotiExpress Pedro, fue asesinado a balazos este miércoles 9 de julio sobre la avenida Cuauhtémoc, una de las principales vialidades del puerto de Acapulco, Guerrero.
El ataque ocurrió escasos metros del punto donde minutos antes había documentado un socavón en la colonia Progreso. En su transmisión, realizada en la intersección de las calles Artículo 28 y 18 de Marzo, Paz alertaba del riesgo que representaba el deterioro del pavimento para conductores y peatones. El video, que llevaba los hashtags #PeligroLatente y #AcapulcoSinMiedoALaCensura, fue su última publicación.
Según reportes preliminares, un hombre armado le disparó al menos en 17 ocasiones antes de huir del sitio. El cuerpo del comunicador quedó tendido en la banqueta, frente a decenas de testigos. Hasta el momento no hay detenidos ni se han dado a conocer líneas oficiales de investigación.
Ronald Paz Pedro fue policía municipal en el pasado, pero en los últimos años se había enfocado de lleno en su labor como generador de contenido digital, sin formación académica en periodismo, pero con un seguimiento importante entre habitantes de colonias populares de Acapulco. Su página era reconocida por mezclar denuncias ciudadanas con cobertura de hechos violentos, convirtiéndose en un referente alternativo de información en la ciudad.
El asesinato generó una ola de indignación en redes sociales. Usuarios responsabilizaron al gobierno municipal, encabezado por la alcaldesa Abelina López Rodríguez, acusándolo de silenciar voces críticas. Comentarios como “Eso hace el gobierno corrupto. Manda a callar los que muestran la cruel realidad de Acapulco” y “Quedó bien claro quién lo mandó a desvivir” inundaron las publicaciones relacionadas.
Horas antes de su asesinato, Ronald había publicado el hallazgo de un hombre ejecutado a balazos en la colonia Hermenegildo Galeana, sumando a su historial de reportes directos sobre hechos de violencia.


El caso de Paz Pedro se suma al asesinato de José Carlos González Herrera, alias El Fénix, quien fue ejecutado el pasado 15 de mayo también en Acapulco. González era administrador de la página El Guerrero Opinión Ciudadana y había sobrevivido a un atentado en 2023 tras cubrir el incendio del Mercado Central. En sus transmisiones utilizaba una máscara de luchador para resguardar su identidad.
Guerrero es considerado uno de los estados más peligrosos para ejercer el periodismo en México. De acuerdo con la organización Artículo 19, en 2024 la entidad registró 51 agresiones contra comunicadores. Desde el año 2000, al menos 14 periodistas han sido asesinados y uno más permanece desaparecido en la entidad, en crímenes vinculados con su labor informativa.
La violencia contra comunicadores en Guerrero, sumada a la falta de protección oficial para creadores de contenido que realizan coberturas ciudadanas o denuncias locales, sigue cobrando vidas sin consecuencias visibles para los agresores.
