José María Morelos.- Una serie de accidentes en las curvas de José María Morelos ha dejado una persona muerta y varias personas lesionadas. El primer accidente ocurrió alrededor de las 2:30 de la tarde en el kilómetro 152 del tramo José María Morelos – Polyuc. Una familia en ruta a la isla de Cozumel sufrió un accidente cuando un vehículo invadió su carril. La conductora de la camioneta Mitsubishi perdió el control al frenar y terminó dentro de la maleza. Afortunadamente, nadie resultó herido en este incidente.
Horas después, se reportó otro accidente grave con personas prensadas. Los paramédicos y el cuerpo de bomberos se dirigieron al lugar del primer accidente, donde encontraron tres vehículos siniestrados fuera de la carretera. En el lugar, una camioneta roja tenía al copiloto fallecido de manera instantánea. El conductor de esta camioneta explicó que un tráiler, que transportaba material para el Tren Maya, invadió su carril, lo que provocó que perdiera el control y volcara en la maleza.
Dos miembros de la familia involucrada en el accidente fueron trasladados al hospital para su valoración médica. Además, se observaron dos vehículos que chocaron de costado. El conductor de un Kia gris, al intentar esquivar un vehículo mal estacionado donde los tripulantes ayudaban a los heridos del primer accidente, invadió el carril y colisionó con otro vehículo de la misma marca. En este último percance, una persona resultó herida y también fue llevada al hospital.
En el lugar de los hechos estuvieron presentes elementos de la Guardia Nacional, tránsito municipal y bomberos. Posteriormente, llegaron integrantes de la Fiscalía General del Estado, quienes se encargaron de las diligencias correspondientes y ordenaron el levantamiento del cuerpo, que fue trasladado por el SEMEFO a Felipe Carrillo Puerto para la necropsia de ley.
